Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma made the comments when asked by reporters amid the ongoing conflict between Assam and Meghalaya.
CM Himanta was also asked about the ongoing talks to resolve the border dispute, he reiterated that it had nothing to do with the border.
Sarma told reporters, “Just to clarify this incident has nothing to do with the border, as it has been reported in the national media. It was basically a clash between villagers and police over some forest wood.”
“The matter was related to some timber-related clashes and we have ordered a judicial inquiry and referred the matter for investigation by CBI or NIA. Compensation has been announced and the person responsible has been dismissed,” Sarma added.
Also, the Chief Minister of Assam has announced to pay five lakh rupees to the victims of the shooting.
