Assam CM discusses tourism opportunities with Japan’s tourism minister

Furukawa Yasushi, Japan’s State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to talk about increasing travel between Assam and Japan. CM Sarma emphasized Assam’s unrealized tourism potential during the meeting by highlighting the state’s Bagans and golf courses, Charaideo Moidams, and Kaziranga National Park. He discussed how Japanese tourists might have great prospects at these unusual locations.

Strengthening tourist links and opening up new channels for Assamese and Japanese cultural and economic contacts were the main topics of discussion. It is anticipated that the conference would open the door to further cooperation, which will be advantageous to both areas. At the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also presented flowers in honor of the renowned independence warrior Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

CM Sarma emphasized Netaji’s legacy as a symbol of bravery and patriotism while commemorating his unparalleled contributions to India’s liberation movement. To honor the memory of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the government designated January 23 as Parakram Diwas in 2021. His statue was thereafter unveiled at India Gate as part of the Kartavya Path renovation, marking a historic homage. PM Modi praised it as a representation of India’s renewed cultural pride.
