Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has recently announced about government employees in Assam to put restrictions from getting married for the second time if their spouses are alive on Friday.
According to the sources, due to the decision taken by the Assam CM has sparked controversies in the state. In response to the controversies, Sarma has clarified that the decision would reduce family disputes.
He said, “We have seen a number of times that after the death of a particular employee, two wives of that person demand the family pension. A lot of cases related to pension disbursal were pending due to the complications from this situation”.
Sarma also informed that the rule was implemented earlier but was not enforced. The present government is now implementing in government services rule, Assam. The government employees will have to take permission for their second marriage.
