On Wednesday, Assam Chief Secretary Dr Ravi Kota visited the Tech City at Bongora, located near LGBI Airport in Guwahati, accompanied by officials from AMTRON, PWD, and other stakeholders. The visit aimed to review the progress of the IIM Guwahati Transit Campus, which is scheduled to become operational for the 2026 academic session. Dr. Kota emphasized the necessity of completing the physical facilities on time, with the Tech City, developed by AMTRON under the Department of IT, Goa, covering 104 acres and 100 acres currently under acquisition. This project is the first Electronics & IT hub in the North East, supported by MeitY’s Electronic Manufacturing Cluster Scheme, holding significant potential for regional development. Notably, two G+4 structures—the Common Facility Centre and the Administrative Block—are nearing completion, with a 90% physical progress rate. Dr. Kota instructed that all remaining work must meet quality and compliance standards for both the EMC and the transit campus to complete as soon as possible. Additionally, he inspected the newly built terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, preparing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration on December 20, which includes unveiling a statue of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi and reviewing various operational arrangements, including security measures and public access points. Key discussions on traffic regulation, venue readiness, and emergency preparedness were conducted with senior police officials and other state stakeholders present.
