During a cabinet meeting, chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma a decision was taken to reserve seats for 5 communities of Assam in ITI.
According to the sources, 3.24% seats will be reserved for students under OBC quota in Industrial Training Institutions (ITIs). The communities are Ahom, Moran, Matak, Chutia and Koch-Rajbongshi.
Sarma shared the update on Twitter, he said a total of 786 seats, representing 3.24 per cent, have been reserved under the Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ MOBC (More OBC) for students from the Ahom, Moran, Matak, Chutia and Koch-Rajbongshi communities.
However, Tea garden and ex-tea garden communities are already availing 5 per cent reservation within the OBC/MOBC category.
