A meeting presided by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with state cabinet has decided to release 135 crore for construction of Cancer hospitals in Assam.
According to the discussion, the sum will be handed to Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) for constructing 10 cancer hospitals. For the first phase, the amount will be released to hospitals being built in Silchar, Guwahati and Diphu. In the second phase, seven cancer hospitals will come up in Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Golaghat, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Tinsukia.
Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah during media said that the project is also to generate 8,000 jobs for the aspirants.
Additionally, Dearness Allowance (DA) to be effective from December 1, for state government employees.
