On Monday, the Assam cabinet approved a proposal to build a township on 550 acres of defunct Hindustan Paper Corporation’s land in Morigaon district near Guwahati that the state government acquired in March, minister Jayant Malla Barua said.
It also aims to develop the tourism sector, paving the way for businesses to avail of incentives provided under the State Industrial Policy.
He said that the township will be set up on 550 acres of land after discussions with the local people, but in today’s meeting the preliminary decision of the satellite town has been taken.
