Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota had a meeting with UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) CEO, Saurabh Vijay and discussed the progress and priorities for further strengthening Aadhaar enrolment, updates and authentication in Assam.
“With Aadhaar saturation in the State at 96.01 percent, we discussed the need to close the remaining gaps, particularly in low-saturation districts and among identified communities, while expanding the effective use of Aadhaar for citizen-centric service delivery,” the Chief Secretary said on Thursday. .
During the meeting, the functioning of Aadhaar Seva Kendras and the deployment of enrolment kits to strengthen access to Aadhaar services across the State were reviewed.
“We also discussed expediting Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU) with 34.35 lakh updates currently pending,” Kota said.
“Particular emphasis was placed on school students, with a focus on accelerating Aadhaar enrolment and MBU through mission-mode camps and closer coordination with the Education Department”, he said.
“We also discussed strengthening Aadhaar-enabled DBT under State Government schemes through wider adoption of Aadhaar authentication, helping ensure that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries in a transparent, efficient and timely manner,” the Chief Secretary said.
He further emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between UIDAI and the State Government to close the remaining gaps and further strengthen Aadhaar-enabled delivery of services and benefits across Assam.
