A Bajrang Dal worker named Sambhu Kairi was killed near Karimganj on Saturday. Kairi was returning to Karimganj district after attending a three-day training camp of Bajrang Dal in neighboring Hailakandi district.
Police said that one person involved in the murder has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
The situation in the area is critical, sources said. Local people were demanding the arrest of the culprits; Some forces have been deployed to control the situation.
Police said the man was hit with a sharp weapon. The locals rushed him to the nearest hospital where he was declared brought dead.
