Bouncing back strongly from their earlier disappointments in their respective individual events where Kamaljeet finished ninth and Suruchi placed 26th, Indian shooters Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet clinched the prestigious gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games on Friday by securing the top spot in qualifications with 587 points and 29 inner 10s, and subsequently dominating the medal round with a stellar total of 484.6 to comfortably defeat South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo by a massive 6.6-point margin while Iran secured the bronze with 415.8, thus successfully concluding India’s campaign in the 10m air pistol events; furthermore, the Indian men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team featuring Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar, and Rudrankksh Patil bagged the silver medal by posting a combined score of 1762, finishing just behind China’s gold-winning tally of 1766 and ahead of Korea’s bronze-winning 1751, while individual brilliant efforts from Tomar with 589 points and Niraj with 588 points earned them third and fourth positions respectively to qualify for the individual 3P finals, leaving out Rudrankksh only due to the restriction allowing a maximum of two shooters per country in the individual title round.
