India’s Ashmita Chaliha stormed into the women’s singles final of the Korea Masters Super 300 on Saturday, defeating compatriot Rakshitha Ramraj in a hard-fought three-game semifinal.
The 26-year-old from Assam prevailed 21-13, 16-21, 21-13 in the all-Indian contest. Chaliha dominated the opening game with aggressive strokes and precise court coverage, but Ramraj fought back strongly in the second to level the match.
Chaliha regained her composure in the decider, established an early lead and maintained control to seal her place in her first-ever BWF World Tour final.
The achievement marks another major milestone in Chaliha’s comeback after a lengthy injury layoff. She returned to competitive action in May following a right-knee injury and has since produced a string of impressive performances, including a semifinal appearance at the Macau Open.
Chaliha will face China’s Han Qianxi in the title clash and will be aiming to claim her maiden BWF World Tour crown. Han, the fourth seed, won the German Open earlier this year.
