Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Friday extended his warm birthday greetings to the Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, who turned 74 today. In a message released to the public, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt wishes and praised the Governor for his steady guidance and sense of duty towards the State.
The Chief Minister said the Governor’s dedication, wisdom and leadership have been a source of strength and inspiration for the people of Sikkim. He also wished him good health, clarity of mind and continued ability to lead the State with patience, compassion and commitment. CM Tamang further added that he hoped the Governor would have a happy year ahead, filled with peace, success and well-being. He concluded his message by once again extending warm wishes on behalf of the people of Sikkim.
Governor O.P. Mathur has had a long public life. He first began working in public service in 1972 as a Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Later, during the Emergency imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, he was jailed for 11 months for his stand in support of democratic values. His political and social journey since then has been closely linked to national and public causes.
