Apraava Energy’s AI-ML solution recognised by Power Ministry for boosting power distribution efficiency

Apraava Energy has received national recognition from the Ministry of Power for its Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning–based solution aimed at strengthening India’s power distribution sector. The recognition was conferred at the National Conference on the Use of AI and ML in the Power Distribution Sector, organised under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The two-day conference showcased innovative technology applications designed to improve operational efficiency and consumer services across electricity distribution companies. Nearly 200 solutions were presented by DISCOMs, technology firms and service providers. Apraava Energy emerged as runner-up in the Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider category. The award was presented by Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar.

Apraava showcased its AI-powered platform, Discom GPT (Grid.), developed in partnership with WorkOnGrid. The solution demonstrated how generative AI and machine learning can support behavioural demand response, automate operations and improve grid efficiency while enhancing consumer experience.

Managing Director Rajiv Ranjan Mishra said the initiative reflects the company’s effort to embed AI deeply into power utility operations to improve reliability, efficiency and customer satisfaction. The company also highlighted its end-to-end smart metering capabilities, with an AMI footprint across several states and a target of installing about 7.8 million smart meters under the RDSS.
