Apollo Hospitals teams up with US innovator to train upcoming surgeons

Boston Scientific and Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals in Kolkata are partnering to offer laser and transoral surgery training to Indian and international doctors. The inaugural workshop is scheduled for July 29-30, 2023.CO2 Laser Surgery is a specialized technique used for various ear, nose, throat, voice box, and larynx diseases. It offers precision surgery with minimal tissue damage, resulting in quick recovery and reduced morbidity.

CO2 Laser Surgery is now the workhorse for laryngeal, vocal cord surgeries worldwide. Boston Scientific initiated the ‘Global Mentorship Programme for Advanced CO2 Laser and Transoral Surgery’ under Dr. Shantanu Panja, an ENT specialist at Apollo Hospitals, Kolkata. Dr. Panja said, “Through this training programme, we want the benefits of modern medicine to reach more people across the country.”

The initiative trains surgeons from various countries and abroad to provide laser surgical services, promoting cancer-free lives and promoting laser surgery in home institutes. The candidates for the programme are selected through a rigorous process. Eight candidates from India and Bangladesh were selected for the first training workshop, representing faculty members from various hospitals.members from India and Bangladesh, were selected for the first training workshop.
