APCC delegation visits families of Sonapur accident victims

A delegation of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) members today visited the residences of two individuals who lost their lives in a horrific road accident on National Highway 37 near Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati last Sunday.
Seven people were killed in the head-on collision between a truck and a passenger Traveler. The delegation visited the homes of the deceased handyman of the vehicle, Tafazzul Ali, and passenger Jyotika Ronghang, a resident of Bhogpur, Guwahati.
Meeting with the bereaved family members, the Congress delegation took stock of their condition, expressed profound condolences, and assured them of unwavering support during this difficult time.
The Pradesh Congress urged the state government to ensure adequate financial assistance and one-time ex gratia compensation for the victims’ families without delay. Additionally, to prevent such tragic accidents in the future, the team demanded that road safety measures along the highway be significantly tightened and strengthened.
The delegation included APCC General Secretary Shantanu Borah, Guwahati City District Congress Committee President Swapan Das, and Senior Spokespersons Gopal Sarma and Bidisha Neog.
