One of the country’s leading entrepreneur-led FMCG direct selling companies Amway India joined hands with ChildFund India to expand its globally acclaimed nutrition program – Power of 5 to Kolkata. It aims to benefit over 4000mothers/caregivers and their children from underserved communities.
The Power of 5 is a community-based campaign targeted at mothers and caregivers of children under the age of five years with grassroots nutritional education programs. The company expanded its program to Haryana in 2020 in association with SRF Foundation. Amway India’s CSR initiatives are based on the belief that social responsibility is much more than the incurrence of a cost or a resource or a charitable/philanthropic act of social benefit. The program has been working to fight childhood malnutrition and benefitted over 130,000 people including 36,000 children. Amway India has been conferred with the ‘Golden Peacock CSR Award’.
The Sr. Vice President of East & West Region at Amway India Chandra Bhushan Chakraborty said, “As per the survey by NFHS, it is observed that over 72% of children under the age of 5 years in the Kolkata district are anemic. And we are confident that our nutrition program will complement various state-national level interventions, supporting and elevating both maternal and child health in the region.”
