The All Assam Minority Students’ Union condemned a violent incident against minority Hindus in Bangladesh, labeling it as inhuman and unacceptable. AAMSU president Rezaul Karim Sarkar criticized the event and called on the Indian Government to take strict action, advocating for firm diplomatic measures towards the Bangladesh government, and potentially stronger responses if the situation demands it. This condemnation coincided with a protest organized by AAMSU at Balapara in Jogighopa, Bongaigaon district, where demonstrators raised slogans opposing the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh and criticized the country’s interim leadership. Notable slogans included “Oppression of minorities in Bangladesh will not be tolerated” and “Muhammad Yunus go back,” which heightened the protest atmosphere. Sarkar warned that Bangladesh must refrain from ill intentions towards Northeast India and reiterated the demand for decisive action from the Indian government. Alongside the protests, AAMSU district units throughout Assam planned to burn effigies of Muhammad Yunus, the interim government chief adviser of Bangladesh, at 2 pm as part of a statewide protest initiative.
