Amritpal Singh used drug rehab centers to recruit ‘human bombs’

Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh, who has been on the run since the Punjab police launched a massive crackdown on Waris Punjab De members in the state, used rehabilitation centers to recruit “human bombs”, according to a report.

A dossier by intelligence agencies suggested that Waris Punjab D chief Amritpal Singh was using drug rehabilitation centers and a gurudwara to stockpile weapons and prepare youths to carry out suicide attacks, PTI reported.

The dossier claims that Singh, who returned from Dubai last year at the behest of Pakistan’s ISI and Khalistan supporters living abroad, was mainly engaged in brainwashing youths to become “khadkoos” or human bombs.

Young people admitted to drug-free centers were indoctrinated into ‘gun culture’. According to reports, they are being brainwashed to choose the path of slain terrorist Dilawar Singh, who acted as a human bomb and killed former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.

So far, Punjab Police has arrested 112 Waris Punjab De members and zeroed in on Amritpal Singh. Several weapons and ammunition have also been seized in the ongoing investigation. Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh and driver Harpreet made their debut in Punjab’s Mehtpur on Monday.

The suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in the state has been extended till Tuesday afternoon.

Amritpal Singh was on the police radar when he and his armed followers attacked a police station in Ajnala last month to free one of his associates.
