It was earlier announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah may visit Bengal in November. The home minister was supposed to come to the state this month. But the meeting was postponed due to special reasons. As a result, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is no longer coming to the state. The meeting of the Eastern Council was scheduled to be held in Kolkata on November 5. The Union Home Minister was supposed to come to the state on that occasion.
The Eastern Zonal Council was supposed to meet in Navanna hall to decide on coordination, security, and problem-solving strategies among the eastern states. As per the information, Amit Shah presided over that meeting. The chief ministers of all the eastern states of the country were supposed to attend the meeting. His visit to West Bengal has been postponed for some urgent matter. Union Home Minister and the Chief Ministers of the Eastern states will meet again after fixing their own schedule.
Earlier this meeting was held in Odisha in 2020. Along with Amit Shah, the Chief Minister of the state Mamata Banerjee was present at that meeting. In 2019, this meeting was held in Navanna meeting hall. Rajnath Singh was the Union Home Minister at that time.
