Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday dialled Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to discuss the flood situation in Dhemaji and parts of the state, and assured full support from the Centre in dealing with it.
“I thank Home Minister Amit Shah Ji for his phone call and enquiring about the flood situation in Dhemaji. I have briefed him on the relief and rehabilitation measures presently underway. He has also assured us all possible support and assistance from the Government of India to deal with this situation,” Sarma said.
On Sunday evening, Sarma had said that he was closely monitoring the flood situation since it unfolded in Dhemaji.
“We are deeply saddened by the impact it has had on the lives of our people, and in this difficult time, we firmly stand with them,” he had added.
