Amazon’s new FC to serve WB and NE states

Amazon India launched a new Fulfilment Centre (FC), the largest in West Bengal. This expansion marks a significant increase in Amazon India’s infrastructure in the State. Amazon will now offer a storage capacity of more than 3.4 million cubic feet across 5 fulfilment centres. This expansion will help the 25,000 sellers in West Bengal offer a wider selection and enable faster deliveries of customer orders within the region and neighbouring States ahead of the upcoming festive season. According to Akhil Saxena, VP, Customer Fulfilment Operations, APAC, MENA & LATAM, Amazon, West Bengal is a very important market for Amazon as its strategic location enables the company to better serve customers in West Bengal and neighbouring North-eastern states. With this expansion, Amazon will be able to support small & medium businesses while creating hundreds of work opportunities for locals in the region.

Amazon also supports local entrepreneurs and businesses with programs that enable part-time and full-time delivery opportunities. This expansion is a part of the company’s plans announced in July to add 10 new Fulfilment Centres and expand 7 existing sites, across India.
