Amazon India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and boost e-commerce exports in India. The MoU aims to co-create capacity building sessions, training, and workshops for MSMEs across 75 districts, part of the Districts as Export Hubs initiative outlined in the Foreign Trade Policy. The initiative aims to link local producers in rural and remote districts with global supply chains.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri. Santosh Sarangi (Additional Secretary and Director General of DGFT), Chetan Krishnaswamy (Vice President, Public Policy – Amazon) and Bhupen Wakankar (Director Global Trade – Amazon India). Amazon and DGFT will focus on educating MSMEs on e-commerce exports and enabling them to sell to customers across the world. Amazon will provide access to third-party service providers for MSMEs, enabling them to access services like imaging, digital cataloging, and tax advisory, enabling Indian entrepreneurs to build e-commerce export businesses and global brands.
Shri. Santosh Sarangi Additional Secretary and Director General of DGFT – “In first such collaboration with different e-commerce platforms, DGFT is collaborating with Amazonas a step towards our goal of enabling $200-300 billion in ecommerce exports from India by 2030.”
