Amazon India sets record with 1.1 lakh employees volunteering in global month of impact

Amazon India has achieved a milestone in corporate social responsibility with over 1.1 lakh employees participating in their Global Month of Volunteering, marking a remarkable 100% increase from the previous year. This initiative, celebrated throughout May 2024, underscored Amazon’s commitment to community engagement and impact across India.

The month-long volunteering drive facilitated more than 400 opportunities across the country, collaborating with over 55 nonprofit organizations. Employees engaged in diverse activities, both in-office and virtual, aimed at addressing critical issues such as women’s empowerment, sustainability, food security, and education. Manish Tiwary, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, emphasized the significance of the initiative: “At Amazon, our dedication to community well-being is intrinsic to our mission. The Global Month of Volunteering not only unites our employees but also empowers them to create tangible changes in society.”

Activities ranged from promoting STEM education for girls and reducing waste through innovative recycling projects to ensuring food security and revitalizing educational spaces in schools. Volunteers actively contributed to sustainable livelihoods by supporting local self-help groups and promoting indigenous products. They also distributed ration kits and essentials to underserved communities, impacting over 1.36 lakh beneficiaries nationwide.
