AirAsia launches auto visa check to streamline international travel

AirAsia has launched its innovative Auto Visa Check (AVC) feature on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com, significantly simplifying the check-in process for international travellers requiring visas or Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

With the new feature, passengers can now verify their visa online in real time during check-in, from 14 days up to one hour before their flight’s departure, eliminating the need for manual verification at airport counters. By scanning a sticker visa or uploading an e-visa, eligible travellers receive an e-boarding pass immediately—streamlining the airport experience and reducing congestion.

This feature is particularly beneficial for hand-carry-only travellers, who can proceed directly to the boarding gate. Those with checked baggage may print bag tags at self-service kiosks and use designated drop counters. However, AVC is currently limited to multiple-entry visa holders; those with single or double-entry visas must still check in manually. Guwahati, with its growing number of outbound international travellers, especially to Southeast Asian destinations, is expected to see a significant boost in convenience. Local travel agents and fliers have welcomed the move, stating it will ease travel formalities and enhance passenger flow through Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
