Air India Express expands flight operations from Guwahati for winter season

Air India Express is ramping up its operations from Guwahati as part of its winter schedule, with over 105 weekly flights now connecting the city to domestic and international destinations. This marks a significant increase from the 63 weekly flights offered last winter, underlining the airline’s commitment to strengthening connectivity to Northeast India. The expanded schedule includes direct flights to popular destinations like Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Kolkata, along with one-stop connections to 18 other cities.

Dr. Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India Express, expressed, “This nearly doubled number of flights from Guwahati highlights our focus on fostering economic growth and tourism in the Northeast, while making travel more accessible for residents and visitors alike.” The airline holds about 25% of the market share in Guwahati, contributing to the region’s economic growth through enhanced trade and connectivity.

Guwahati is seeing increased demand as the city becomes a vital hub connecting the Northeast to other parts of India and abroad. With new routes and frequent flights, Guwahati’s role as a gateway to the region is strengthening, further boosting local businesses and tourism. Air India Express is also expanding its network with more than 400 daily flights this winter, including new routes from Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi, alongside increased international flights to destinations like Abu Dhabi, Muscat, and Singapore.
