AINU’s Bhubaneswar expansion signals growing investment in specialised kidney and urology care

The Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU) has expanded its pan-India healthcare network with the launch of its eighth hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, reflecting growing investment opportunities in specialised kidney and urology care. The expansion builds on AINU’s 13-year legacy of treating over 6 lakh patients and its strategy of establishing centres of excellence in underserved regional markets.

The move comes against the backdrop of a rising kidney disease burden in Odisha. An ICMR-INDIAB study identified impaired kidney function prevalence of 6% or higher in the state, while an ICMR-NIHR study covering 19,703 adults across 53 tribal communities in 14 districts found that 24.8% had impaired kidney function. The findings highlight the need for greater investment in screening, diagnostics and specialist treatment infrastructure.

The new hospital offers nephrology, urology, uro-oncology, kidney transplantation, dialysis, paediatric urology, andrology and reconstructive urology. Infrastructure includes a 12-station haemodialysis unit, three operation theatres, 100W Holmium and 45W Thulium Fibre lasers, 3D laparoscopy, RIRS, PCNL, a 32-slice CT scanner and video urodynamics. A dedicated robotic surgery platform is also planned.

AINU Chairman Vishal Bali and CEO Sandeep Guduru said the expansion would strengthen access to specialised healthcare and support the organisation’s pan-India growth strategy, particularly across eastern India.
