With American singer-rapper Post Malone set to perform in Guwahati, Assam is planning to host a concert featuring renowned singer-songwriter Shakira in the near future. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that this event marks a significant moment for Guwahati, placing it on the global entertainment stage. Although the state had an opportunity to host Shakira in February next year, logistical and financial constraints led to the decision to postpone.
The government is currently supporting the concert’s organizer, BookMyShow, with logistics and security as part of a concert economy initiative. Approximately 20,000 tickets have been sold for Malone’s first solo performance in India, with around 7,000 fans traveling from outside Assam, including 4,000 from other regions of the Northeast.
