Actor Shah Rukh Khan came at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2022 (KIFF) on Thursday eve. During his speech at the opening of the festival, the actor shared about pessimism that is seen on social media. The timing of the address was interesting as Shah Rukh’s upcoming movie Pathaan at present is facing boycott calls on Twitter. Without naming Pathaan, SRK addressed the ‘narrowness of view’ on social platforms and even challenged people with negative mindset.
The actor further said that cinema can be seen as playing the role of counter-narrative to the pessimism on social platforms and spread compassion in turn. While ending his speech, the actor switched to Hindi and said, that the world has come to normal. Everyone here is happy, he also said he is the happiest. And he has no demur in claiming that duniya kuch bhi kar le, main aur aap log aur jitney bhi positive log hain sab ke sab, zinda hain.” His final word ‘zinda hain’, was delivered in the style of his character from Pathaan movie , which gathered cheers from the people present there.
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, is a spy thriller that features actor Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The debate started after the release of first song Besharam Rang 2 days ago. MP minister Narottam Mishra stated the song was objectionable and raised criticism about its dresses, saying that unless it is changed, the movie may not be allowed in the state. The movie is set to hit the theatres on 25th of January, 2023.
