The Japan Foundation is bringing the sixth edition of the Japanese Film Festival India to Kolkata after four years, following successful runs in six cities. The four-month-long touring festival will approach its grand finale. The opening ceremony took place in New Delhi on 12th October, attended by notable stalwarts, film critics, and members of the Japan Foundation and Japan Embassy.
Influencers, Delhi-based cosplayers, and members of the Delhi Anime Club and Delhi Film Club attended the screening. The festival has also been held in Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune, with similar success and praise.
The ultimate leg of the festival will take place in Kolkata from 18th-21st January at INOX South City. Director General of the Japan Foundation New Delhi KojiSato expressed his satisfaction with the JFF’s sixth edition, stating that anime is popular in India but hopes that the festival will also introduce people to the appeal of the latest Japanese feature films.
