AFSPA to be withdrawn from Northeastern states

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently met Home Minister Amit Shah to have a complete discussion on withdrawal of Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) as promised earlier by the Assam CM.

 According to the sources, Assam Chief Minister cited significant improvements of law and order signing of peace in the Northeastern region following removal of AFSPA from the region to the Home Minister.

 Sarma wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I met Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji at his residence today to discuss the roadmap for the complete withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Assam. The government of Assam will take further steps based on the suggestions of the Home Minister.”
