According to an update by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday, India’s active Covid caseload fell by 7,175, with 635 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. Since the pandemic hit in early 2020, India has so far reported over 4.46 crore cases, with a death toll of 530,546.
Active cases account for 0.02% of total infections and the national recovery rate is 98.79%.
As of now, Karnataka’s active caseload stands at 1,614, West Bengal has 232 active cases, Kerala has 2,094 active cases, Tamil Nadu has 605 active cases, Maharashtra has 882 active cases, Odisha has 145, Rajasthan has 226 cases and Uttar Pradesh has 197 active covid cases.
The country has conducted more than 147,344 tests in the last 24 hours.
States have been asked to continue monitoring incoming international travelers, conduct constant genome sequencing and step-up vaccinations.
