Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABD), India’s largest domestic spirits company by volume, has announced the appointment of Amar Sinha as Managing Director (MD) Designate, effective April 2, 2026. The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors as the tenure of current MD Alok Gupta nears completion, marking a planned leadership transition aligned with ABD’s long-term growth strategy.
Sinha brings over three decades of leadership experience in the alco-beverage and consumer sectors. He has previously held key positions, including Chief Operating Officer at Radico Khaitan, Managing Director at Whyte & Mackay India, and senior roles at Herbertsons under the UB Group. His career has been marked by business transformation, brand building, and market expansion.
Welcoming the appointment, Non-Executive Chairman Kishore Chhabria credited Gupta for strengthening governance and expanding ABD’s industry presence. Gupta, in turn, described his tenure as a “wonderful journey,” expressing confidence in the company’s future trajectory. Sinha said he looks forward to steering ABD’s next phase of growth, backed by its strong brand portfolio and strategic foundation.
Kolkata, a key consumption hub in eastern India, remains crucial for ABD’s expansion strategy. With rising urban demand and evolving consumer preferences in premium spirits, Sinha’s experience in brand-led growth is expected to help ABD deepen its footprint and capture emerging opportunities in the region.
