A forest guard was killed in a tiger attack in Orang National Park

In Orang National Park, a tiger killed forest guard Dhonmoni Deka. When the attack took place, he was alone on patrol. In Orang National Park, Dhonmoni Deka, a resident of Nagao-Hatimara in Sipajhar, was murdered by a tiger while performing his duties. It was discovered that Dhonmoni, who had only been married for six months, was by herself when the attack occurred.

In a related incident, a wild elephant attacked a group of persons in Assam’s Sonitpur district earlier this year in April 2024, killing three of them, including two forest guards. Another person was injured. According to West Tezpur Divisional Forest Officer Nipen Kalita, the elephant escaped into Dhirai Majuli village from the adjoining Dhekiajuli forest, stomping three persons to death on the spot and injuring another forest employee. The deceased were identified as Jatin Tanti, a villager, and forest guards Koleswar Boro and Biren Rava.
