The Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC) 2025 District Level Coordination Committee Meeting was called by the District Health Society, Dima Hasao, in the Officer’s Conference Hall, NCHAC, Haflong. In order to guarantee that no person goes undiagnosed or untreated, the gathering stressed the significance of bolstering early identification, treatment, and awareness of leprosy in the district.
Leprosy can take up to 20 years to manifest symptoms, according to Dr. L Vaiphei, District Nodal Officer, BCM Mahur BPHC. He emphasized that the campaign’s goals are to eradicate stigma, guarantee prompt treatment, and advance the goal of a Leprosy-Free Dima Hasao. The campaign will be carried out in three stages: Phase I will cover the highest priority blocks in Haflong town from December 15 to 28, 2025; Phase II will cover moderate priority blocks in Gunjung and Langting from January 5 to 18, 2026; and Phase III will cover low priority blocks in the Mahur area from February 16 to March 1, 2026.
2,39,016 people in Dima Hasao would be the target of door-to-door sensitization and detection. The awareness message emphasized that early diagnosis can avoid disability and that leprosy is curable with Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT), which is free at health centers. People were advised not to conceal symptoms like skin nodules, numbness in the hands or feet, or pale or reddish regions.
