A 12-hour bandh is planned in Sribhumi district, and the DM enforces preventive measures

The District Magistrate of Sribhumi, Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, has announced a set of preventive measures ahead of a 12-hour bandh scheduled for September 6, citing concerns over public safety and potential disruptions. The restrictions will be in effect from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM across the district under Section 163 of the BNSS.

The bandh, called by an unspecified organisation, has prompted authorities to act proactively to ensure peace and uninterrupted public life. According to the order, the assembly of five or more people without prior permission is prohibited. Organizing bandhs, rallies, strikes, dharnas, or demonstrations without authorization is strictly banned. Additional restrictions include the possession or carriage of weapons, explosives, or suspicious items, obstruction of traffic, illegal parking, and the use of loudspeakers or high-decibel sound systems without prior approval from authorities.

The district administration clarified that these measures do not apply to government employees on duty, emergency services such as ambulances and fire brigades, or essential public service providers. Authorities have warned that violators of the order will face strict legal action under the relevant laws. In a statement, the Sribhumi district administration emphasized that the preventive measures are aimed at maintaining peace, safeguarding public safety, and ensuring smooth law and order operations during the bandh period. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
