A new survey by Godrej Jersey has revealed that 60% of Indian parents prioritize milk for their children to ensure adequate calcium intake. The report, titled Bottoms Up…India Says Cheers to Milk!, highlights diverse reasons why parents across the country include milk in their child’s diet, with many emphasizing its role in maintaining overall health, weight management, and providing essential nutrients.
The survey, conducted by YouGov, involved responses from cities including Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Notably, Hyderabad-based parents showed the highest preference for milk at 66%, while cities like Lucknow and Kolkata recorded the lowest at 55%. “Milk, with its high-quality protein, calcium, and vitamins, is essential for children’s growth,” said Bhupendra Suri, CEO of Godrej Jersey.
In addition to traditional milk, the report found that 90% of children consume milk more than 4-5 times a week, and over 40% of parents are open to offering flavored milk as a meal replacement or during playtime. In Guwahati, local trends also align with national preferences. Parents are increasingly prioritizing calcium-rich products, reflecting a growing awareness of the nutritional benefits of milk in children’s diets.
