50K Kiranas join hands with Flipkart’s delivery network

As everyone is gearing up for the festive season, there are over 50,000 Kiranas across the country joining hands with Flipkart to deliver millions of shipments across the country. This includes thousands of small retailers from the state who have joined Flipkart’s Kirana program and will play a crucial role in the upcoming Big Billion Days in safely serving shipments to lakhs of Flipkart consumers.

The Kirana program has transformed the lives of thousands of kiranas from the state and across India who are now able to supplement their income and also upskill themselves in handling customers in a safe and sanitised manner. Moinuddin Ahmed (28) from Ghilaguri village in Assam has joined Flipkart’s kirana program in March, amid the nationwide lockdown. As Moinuddin’s father’s kirana store bore the impact of the lockdown, Flipkart’s kirana program emerged as the main financial support for his family during the pandemic. With regards to his expectation from the festive season and Big Billion Days, Moinuddin says, “During this time, people prefer to order online rather than stepping out to crowded markets. I hope to receive more parcels and make more deliveries so that I can help customers to have timely and safe delivery of their products and also earn additional income during this time.”

Moinuddin’s father owns a local grocery store and that store has become a mini warehouse where Moinuddin receives packages and plans the daily deliveries. Several customers also proactively pick up their Flipkart orders from his store. Safety and hygiene has been Moinuddin’s top priority, and he gives credit to Flipkart for training around personal safety and that of customers during the delivery process. In the six months that Moinuddin has been working as a delivery partner with Flipkart, he has become a familiar face to the customers in the seven villages where he delivers regularly. The people of Amgury Ghat, Naali, Ronghor Charli, Hatukuhk, Amguri Gao, Meteka and Dhuliayapar now reach Moinuddin’s number directly for updates on their packages.

As part of the thousands of Kirana across the country joining Flipkart’s Kirana program ahead of the festive season and Big Billion Days, Moinuddin and others like him in Eastern India will play an important role in providing a fast and personalised e-commerce experience to millions of consumers.
