The Bangladeshi migrants were arrested while returning to their homes near the Assam-Tripura border, police said.
Migrants were arrested at various places in Assam. Two were detained at Silchar railway station and the remaining three at Churaibari check post. A total of five members have been arrested so far.
According to the police, the arrested accused had come to India illegally in search of a job a few months ago. “They worked in India but failed to get the desired job, so they tried to go back. Their unusual body language helped police identify them,” said Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta.
According to sources, the arrested are Khokon Fakir, Mizanur Rahman, Fardin Islam, Shag Mia and Ashraful Islam. Police said they came to Silchar by train from Guwahati on Wednesday.
