5 crore saplings to be planted over the state, Assam

MK Yadav, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force of Assam Forest department told, Assam Forest Department has decided to plant 5 crore saplings in the state during the fiscal year 2023-24 to improve forest cover in the state.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced of 1 crore saplings plantation in the on Gandhi Jayanti Day, Oct 2, 2023 to improve the environment of the state and make more greenery.

On Friday, regarding the plantation for 5 crore saplings MK Yadav said, “As per the direction of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Forest Minister, we have decided to plant about 5 crore saplings. In this plantation, we will be planting about 2.80 crore seedlings and the rest will be distributed among the farmers and households.”
