33 schools shine at Dentam TLM Exhibition in Sikkim

Sikkim Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba reaffirmed his commitment to improving education in the region during his visit to the Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM) Exhibition-cum-Competition held on April 18 at Dentam. The event, organized by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) N. K. Karki, saw the participation of 33 schools from the Dentam subdivision.

The exhibition focused on showcasing creative and student-developed teaching tools designed to enhance classroom learning. MP Subba praised the event for its role in promoting student-centric, engaging, and innovative teaching methods. “Education should inspire discovery, critical thinking, and creativity,” Subba said, echoing the vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The competition, judged by senior educators from DIET College, Gyalshing, awarded the top three schools for their innovative TLMs. The winners were:

  • First prize: Srinagi Primary School
  • Second prize: Lower Shankhu Primary School
  • Third prize: Som Busty Junior High School

To further support these schools, Subba announced MPLADS funding for infrastructure development and the scaling up of creative teaching practices. The awards included:

  • ₹5 lakh for the first prize winner
  • ₹4 lakh for the second prize winner
  • ₹3 lakh for the third prize winner

The event was attended by several prominent educators, including the principals of Dentam Senior Secondary and Hee Yangthang Senior Secondary Schools, who played a key role in motivating the students and staff.
