20 nations flock to India for inspiration, Skill India Digital platform sparks global interest

In a landmark event celebrating global collaboration, twenty nations convened in New Delhi today for the “India Summit on Education Knowledge Exchange” hosted by the World Bank. The spotlight shone brightly on India’s groundbreaking Skill India Digital (SID) platform, with delegates eager to learn from its inception, implementation, and impactful lessons. The day-long gathering saw representatives from diverse nations across Asia and Africa, including government officials, leaders, policymakers, and education experts.  The event buzzed with excitement as Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, unveiled the magic of SID. He emphasized its role in propelling India’s economic engine, highlighting its impressive 40 lakh registrations within just six months and its ever-expanding library of over 550 diverse courses.

“Skill India Digital has become a one-stop solution for skilling, reskilling, and upskilling,” Mr. Tiwari declared. “From students in universities to working professionals, everyone can access learning opportunities on their mobiles, showcasing the power of Digital India.” He further lauded India’s Aadhar and UPI systems as successful models, underscoring the importance of knowledge and digital capabilities in today’s world. Shri. Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), echoed Mr. Tiwari’s sentiments. He linked India’s soft power directly to its knowledge and digital prowess. “Our Prime Minister has always emphasized that skilling is key to empowering youth and bridging the gap between skills and job prospects,” he stated. “This is where SID shines, with its reach extending to every corner of the country, ensuring accessibility and everyday new learning opportunities.”

The platform’s impact resonated globally. Mr. Norbu Wangchuk, Director of Bhutan’s Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development, lauded SID as a comprehensive skilling system, while Atty. Harris F. Tarnue, Principal of Liberia’s Booker Washington Institute, expressed deep admiration for the technology-driven approach to education. The summit resonated with a spirit of unity. India, true to its G20 theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family), readily shared its expertise. “We are happy to support other nations,” asserted Mr. Tiwari. “During my interactions, it was evident that everyone is eager to learn from India’s best practices and adapt models like SID.”
