At least 20 people were seriously injured after a leaking LPG cylinder triggered a massive explosion late Tuesday night in the Charbazar area of Sribhumi, causing widespread panic among residents. The blast, which was followed by a fire, occurred at the residence of a local man identified as Munna Kurmi. Emergency responders, along with local residents, rushed the injured to the Sribhumi Civil Hospital. However, several victims were reported to be in critical condition, prompting an immediate referral to the Silchar Medical College Hospital for specialised treatment. In the aftermath of the incident, local residents voiced strong concerns over the preparedness and condition of the Sribhumi Civil Hospital. They alleged that the hospital lacked basic medical facilities required to handle such emergencies, claiming that families of the victims were compelled to buy essential medical supplies from outside.
