Vi tops 4G Download speed in West Bengal for six months

According to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India- TRAI, Vi has emerged at the top position in delivering the highest average data download speed of 24.3 Megabit per second among 4G providers in West Bengal for the six-month period between December 2021 to May 2022.
Vi also recorded the highest Upload speed of 8.5 Megabit per second in West Bengal for the same period. The download speed helps consumers to access content from the internet, while the upload speed helps them send data or share pictures or videos with their contacts. The average speed is computed by TRAI based on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.

Vi records top download speed of 5.92 Gbps

Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Ericsson announced achieving a technology milestone during the ongoing 5G trials by demonstrating a peak download speed of 5.92Gbps. The new speed record by Vi, was achieved on a single test device during its 5G trials in Pune, being conducted on a combination of mid-band and high-band (mmWave) 5G trial spectrum using Ericsson Massive MIMO radios, Ericsson cloud native dual mode 5G core for Standalone architecture and NR-DC (New Radio-Dual Connectivity) software.

With 5G Standalone NR-DC software, Vi can deliver latency-sensitive and high-performing applications such as AR/VR and 8K video streaming as well as innovative new use cases for consumers and enterprises once it deploys 5G on its commercial network.

Earlier during its 5G trials and use cases’ showcase in Pune, Vi had demonstrated speeds of over 4 Gbps. The new speed record of 5.92 Gbps has been achieved using the Govt allocated 5G spectrum for the trials. Vi’s focus on leveraging new technologies and partnerships for a better tomorrow for its users has led the company to showcase a wide range of 5G use cases during the 5G trials in Pune and Gandhinagar.
