A youth in Digboi, Assam identified as Amrit Thakur was brutally attacked by a group of miscreants who attempted to kill him.

According to the sources, the horrifying incident took place at Digboi Chariali locality. The victim alleged that the attack was done by his wife’s relatives due to family feud. Amrit has been seeking seperation from his wife.

However, the victim is admitted to hospital and he is under treatment with severe injuries and critical condition.

Recently Panitanki Outpost police have apprehended the in-charge of a drinking water company for allegedly embezzling about 30 to 40 lakh rupees. Actually the accused, identified as Gaurav Dutta, originally from Kishanganj, but resides in Patti Colony of Siliguri, held a prominent position within the company. Reportedly, Gaurav Dutta’s responsibilities actually included overseeing the provision of drinking water services at railway and bus stations across several states. In fact during this, Gaurav Dutta allegedly misappropriated company funds.

Subsequently, Gaurav Dutta relocated his position from Alipurduar to Siliguri. Recently the Bagdogra police have apprehended two individuals in connection with a recent theft at the residence of the assistant manager of Bhojnarayan Tea Estate in Phansidewa. Actually the accused, identified as Vijay Kalyan Toppo (30) and Rahul Kujur (25), were arrested within 12 days of the reported incident. As per the sources, the theft occurred on May 1, prompting assistant manager Paresh Chandra Sarkar to lodge a formal complaint at the Bagdogra police station. Following the investigation, the police officers initiated an investigation that led to the apprehension of the suspects from the Jhari line of Bhojnarayan Tea Estate on Sunday.

Recently the vigilant officers of Siliguri police station successfully thwarted a theft attempt, capturing a thief red-handed. Actually the accused identified as Subir Sarkar (53), has been apprehended while attempting to steal a battery from an ATM located in the Subhas Pally area. According to police sources, the incident unfolded on Tuesday when the undercover cops on patrol heard suspicious noises emanating from the aforementioned ATM. Upon investigation, they spotted Subir in the act of tampering with the ATM’s battery. Prompt action led to his immediate arrest. Subsequently, police recovered stolen batteries from three other ATMs in his possession.

Notably, Subir, also known as Bocha, has a history of criminal activities. Earlier in March, he was apprehended by Panitanki and Siliguri police for similar offenses at an ATM. Recently a Nepalese national, identified as Dumbar Sabkota (29), has been apprehended with carcasses of wild animals at Panitanki on the Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari. As per reports, the individual was arrested during a routine border check on Monday. Actually the individual attempted to enter Nepal from Sikkim in a four-wheeler with five deer antlers, 30 porcupine quills, deer skulls, snake bones, and antlers of the Himalayan goral. In fact upon inspection, the authorities of the 41st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized the animal parts and detained the individual. Subsequently, the individual was transferred to the Tukriajhar Forest Department by the SSB for further investigation.

Recently the NJP police arrested an individual on charges of theft and recovered a stolen motorcycle. The accused has been identified as Dipankar Bhakta. According to reports, the incident took place in Radhakrishna Temple area at Bhalobasha More under the jurisdiction of the NJP police station on April 15. Lakshman Majhi had parked his motorcycle along the roadside and left for work momentarily. Upon his return, he actually found out that the vehicle went missing.
