Arts Society Manipur and Manipur Cultural Integration Conference have announced winners of the 10th Maharajkumar Priyabrata Singh Arts Award 2024. Actually two candidates were selected from a number of nominations for the award by a jury on February 8. In fact the two winners are Waribam Nipola Devi (graphic) and sculptor Sairem Satyajit (honourable mention).

A 16 yr old Maharashtrian girl from latur district has performed dance for 5 consecutive days which totalled to 127 hrs breaking the previous record of 126 hrs, hence making her way to get a name registered in Guinea book.

As per Guinness World Records (GWR), Srushti Sudhir Jagtap, 16, broke the record for “the longest dance marathon by an individual, with a time of 127 hours”. The previous record was held by Bandana Nepal, a Nepalese dancer who danced for 126 hours in 2018, GWR said.

Talking about her outstanding accomplishment, Srushti said she wanted to break this record as it was her “dream to represent India through dance.”

Popular Bharatanatyam Guru Sri Ganeshan collapsed and breathed his last on the stage during an event in Bhubaneswar on Friday eve. Immediately the 60 yr old artist was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.

“He collapsed on the stage and was rushed to a Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors declared him dead,” Organiser, Jagabandhu Jena informed.

“It was the final evening of the Jayadev Samaroha. An eminent Bharatnatyam guru from Malaysia, Sri Ganeshan came to the event. He came to the stage to light the lamp and while on the main stage, he collapsed. Then he was immediately rushed to the hospital,” said organiser, Jagabandhu Jena.

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has inaugurated the Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI) under the Kolkata-based Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Agartala.

SRFTI Director Himansu Sekhar Khatua said that with 47 students, the classes of the TFTI first batch would start from the first week of December. He added that the SRFTI initially prepared short-term courses and in near future diploma, graduate and postgraduate courses would be launched in the institute. Addressing the inaugural function, renowned Bangladesh actor Ferdous Ahmed said that many people from his country would get a scope to study at the institute.
